Homework Part 2

In this second part of the two-part series about homework we discuss ways to get students to do their homework.  If they begin doing their homework, and you’ve done your part making sure the homework is meaningful, then what comes next is pretty easy.

After students start doing their homework we have to show them how their efforts are paying off in the form of better performance on quizzes and tests.  This episode dives into ways to set that up and tease out the relationship for students.   While this is not something that needs to be done continually, it is a good thing to do initially, and periodically.  This really helps students to see the connection between their efforts and their learning.

Don’t forget to take a look around our website.  There are plenty of great resources, including homework assignments here.  Consider the page on Inequalities.  It starts with basics of reading, writing, and interpreting graphs and takes students all of the way through absolute value inequalities.  Each section has notes, a PowerPoint lesson, a video, and of course, homework.  You can find that page by clicking here.
